Growing up in California, a pool-loving state, I’ve seen some pretty spectacular pools. Determined to incorporate at least one unique feature, I began scouring the web for inspiration. We considered every possibility from a grotto pool with a cavern-like corner to an infinity edge pool with a tanning shelf. One thing we knew we needed to take advantage of was the view we have of all of upstate New York from our backyard. After deep consideration for all things water-related (including cleaning, care and annual maintenance), we decided our pool would have an 8′ tall back wall by 36′ long and would host a 16′ long wall of fire! The fire feature operates on a remote control and I couldn’t be any happier with our decision. Check out our Outdoor Oasis- Fire in the Night!
Fire in the Night!
I have to say, our day time lounging is pretty awesome! If you missed my blog on what this space looks like during the day head on over by clicking here. But, this space totally transforms once night hits. The entire backyard is lit with a variety of ambiance lighting, from the various colored pool lights, the wall of fire, the border lighting and the step LED lighting on a dimmer switch. By putting our lighting on a dimmer, we have complete control over the amount of light we want to let in and the “mood” we want to create.
The strip lighting around the steps and pool really begins to set the stage for a fabulous night.
The fire pit at the top-tier creates a quiet little seating arrangement perfect for 4. Sometimes we need to fit more people around the fire pit. We just remove the chairs and use the stack stone seating to fit more than 15! The up lighting on the tree in the photo creates drama and adds height.
Bringing the Indoors Outdoor
Our undercover seating arrangement makes things super comfortable and intimate for everyone. We often times just turn on the TV and chill out here at night with the family. We have a TV on the wall to the left of this TV shown in the photo. Anyone doing a little night swimming can be part of the peanut gallery!
The outdoor drapery was a must. When things get a little chilly we just close off the drapery, start up the fire pit and heat this place up. We also close off the drapery when it starts to rain. The undercover ceiling system by Finger Lakes Undercover Systems is not only gorgeous, but it is designed to be water proof.
Taken from right behind the top-tier fire pit, this shot shows off the endless view of upstate New York. I can’t even begin to tell you how spectacular the sunsets are here! 4th of July in this spot is quite a show!
I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to see how we spend our days at our home we call Bella Nido. We love it here and love hosting guests. Cheers to many beautiful days and nights to come!
