Ohhhhh, Beautiful Spring!
Warmer weather is on its way, the birds are returning from their winter vacation, the trees and grass are coming out of dormancy, and my bones are finally beginning to thaw! It’s also this beautiful time of the year when everyone starts talking about spring-cleaning! I just set an appointment with Fish window cleaning to come out and clean my windows. For years I’ve always done it myself, but last year I hired help. Friends, I have never seen my windows sparkle the way they did. And for some crazy reason they stayed cleaner longer. I’m going to have to find a way to get their “secret recipe”. If you’re looking for a window cleaner and you live in the Rochester area contact Fish Window Cleaning and use code MyCasaDiBella and receive 10% off!
Spring cleaning is the deep-clean version of a weekly clean. A true spring cleaning is when you take an in-depth analyzation of your home’s interior needs. Baseboards, closets, pantry, refrigerator and freezer, walls, shelves, mattresses, pillows, windows and window coverings, washer and dryer, dishwasher, sofa cushions, house vents all get a good lookin’ at! Announcing, for the very first time, new to the site, The Spring Cleaning Challenge!
The Spring Cleaning Challenge!
Be honest here…how many of you actually “spring clean”? I’m not talking about a regular cleaning…You are SUPPOSED to do that! I’m talking about the real-deal spring clean? I know…you don’t have time! Your kids have sports, your dog needs to be walked, your in-laws have filled your weekends with “family obligations” and your friend’s aunt has asked you to host yet another Tupperware home party. Totally get it- you don’t have time! I, however, have made it so easy for you to tackle the tiny details to a full and complete spring cleaning! I’m calling it the Spring Cleaning Challenge! Wait for it…wait for it…Introducing my easy-to-follow, printable spring-cleaning checklist to guide your every step! This is meant to take all the guesswork out of your cleaning. With the proper tools and a starting point I have faith you are going to tackle this in no time! Are you ready for the challenge?
First little confession: I actually like cleaning! I’m not that kind of girl who wakes up in the morning and says I can’t wait to dive into another stinky, gross toilet to get my scrub on. But, I am that girl who likes to go to bed every night with a clean kitchen so that I can wake up to a clean kitchen. First thing I do in the morning is make my bed. On my way down the stairs to the main floor (on a mission for a fresh cup of jo) I visit each room in search for dirty laundry. I start my first load, pour a cup of coffee and begin my day!
Second little confession: I have a house cleaner! Before you discount everything else I’m about to tell you I need to do a little explaining. My housecleaner (and my friend) is as insane as I am. Lucky for me, she does a mean scrub on the bathrooms, my least favorite room to clean. So, yes, my clean up is a bit easier than someone who is going in solo. She comes 2 x’s a month to help with my bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms. I still tackle all the daily and weekly requirements to keep a house clean like vacuuming, dusting, bathroom shower, sink and toilet scouring, kitchen sink scrubbing and more. I’m grateful for her help because I’m putting in about 7-10 hours of work a day, sometimes 7 days a week. This confession should in no way discourage you from tackling the Spring Cleaning Challenge as the items on the checklist are things that I do myself.
Suddenly cleaning just got a whole lot easier for you because I’m providing you with a list of my very own must-haves to clean house. If you are a believer in chemical-free products then some of the items on this list are not for you. If this is the case simply find an item that replaces my recommendation and move on!
To make things easy on yourself please buy a cleaning caddy to easily tote around all your cleaning supplies. Next, you have to have a decent vacuum with good attachments. I love Dyson’s Absolute because its cordless and has great suction. One of my other most favorite cleaning supplies is the Magic Eraser. If you don’t have this in your tool box then you haven’t seen true magic yet. Two unusual items always in my cleaning caddy: toothpicks and toothbrushes. I use toothpicks to dig out the “grime” that collects around the bolts of the toilet seat (insert yuck face here). I use a toothbrush to get into small little areas that my larger scrubbers can’t get to.

I’m super excited to share with you my FREE printable Spring Cleaning Challenge checklist made just for you! There is absolutely no possible way to carry out this entire checklist in one day, not even for the ultra clean and super über organized. I suggest taking 2 color-coded areas one week at a time. If you follow that suggestion you should have the entire challenge completed in 3 weeks, and that is pushing it. The challenge is going to take a lot of patience and some serious dedication, but I promise you, once you’re done you’re going to have the best feeling of satisfaction ever!
